I have a hard time deciding where to start with information about myself. I guess the best way to describe me is through my music. Yes, I was a music major at Iowa State University, home of the... *sighs* Cyclones. =) I didn't graduate, rather, I chose to pursue another career. Changing my mind several times, and always leaving room to change it again, I have finally taken some advice from a lady I worked with while Experiencing ISU. She was a graphic designer, and strongly suggested I go into the field. I, naturally, thought she was insane.. and I could never do something like that. Well, she replied quite matter-of-factly, that she could tell that's where I was going, and where I would be. Well, it only took 2 years, but I did find out she had a good idea of where I should be. The more I worked with graphical programs, the better I got.. and the better I felt about everything I was doing. I wasn't exactly happy with where I was working, but, I was happy with what I was doing, and some of the people I was working with. I think I may have even gotten a little cocky about my abilities, but I'm still modest enough to say.. I don't know it all. And I never expect to. However, I love learning this stuff -- Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Photoshop, Quark Express (3.1 and 4.0)... I was content just going through everything and figuring out new and cool things to do. The best quote ever taken from my previous manager was: Between these programs, you can do anything. If you can't figure it out, either look something up, or ask one of the people who have been here longer.. Before long, I could do anything, and I loved every second of it. I thought I wanted to go into web design, or stay in print design, but anymore, I'm not quite sure what I want to do career-wise. I currently work at Internet Express in Moline, Illinois doing.. well, a lot. I help with new virtual hosting accounts, Website Promotion and, well, just about anything that needs done and has 'website' in front of the job description. I love working with graphics, yes, but I don't think I could handle it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. ;) I recently got married to Steve Langasek, a wonderful.. geek.. and am learning to live in such a life. For those wondering or curious, I have a few pictures posted up from our wedding, but the page is not that great and will eventually be made better (when I get time.. HA). It really was a beautiful wedding, and absolutley perfect in every way. All of our friends and family did everything they could to make the day exactly what it should be. |
